Networks
allow us to share information and co-ordinate the tasks associated
with them. To co-ordinate, we need the time information. Any Event
that occurs at the network should be time tagged to make it as meaningful
information. But on a network environment there is no guarantee
that any node's time will be correct with respect to another node.
The time will be different between any two nodes of the network
for various reasons ranging from user modified to the Real Time
clock drift. Recent technologies have come a long way in providing
accurate time and synchronizing the network using them. In the white
paper let us see why time synch is required and What NetMan offers
us. This white paper also suggests the future enhancements to the
NetMan.
The need for synchronized time is critical for today's network environment.
Every aspect of managing, securing, planning, and debugging a network
involves determining when events happen. Accurate time is therefore
the critical element.
When the first version of NetMan was released, I installed it just because
I was asked to do it.
My understanding of NetMan was that it is a tool for the network administrator
and to help him get system information of all the computers in the LAN,
we need to install it. Read
